Simultaneous Identification of Friction and Transfer Function of a DC Servo Positioning System via Simulation

چکیده

Friction in a DC servo positioning system is the main challenge to accurate positioning performance. If it can be accurately estimated, the positioning accuracy can be enhanced. Extensive research literature exists on friction modelling and estimation. The contribution of this work is a simulation-based method for estimating not only friction but also the transfer function of the system in which the friction is present by using an experimentally measured step response. The method is validated by using the estimated transfer function and friction in design that meets step response performance requirement of less than 1% steady state error, less than 1% overshoot and under 100 milliseconds rise time.
